The USA expanded the list of sanctions against Belarus

According to the report, six state-owned enterprises that bring income to the regime of Alexander Lukashenko, one company and five individuals involved in facilitating deals for a large Belarusian defense enterprise included in the US sanctions list, as well as five legal and five individuals who are members of a global arms network and conduct business with a Belarusian defense enterprise included in the US sanctions list, the agency's press release states.

Citizens of Belarus, Lebanon, Syria, Slovakia, and Sweden, as well as organizations from Belarus, Iraq, Cyprus, China, Slovakia, and Turkey, fell under the restrictions.

The Treasury Department said its actions "are based on U.S. sanctions imposed in response to the rigged elections in Belarus in August 2020, as well as Lukashenko's support for Russia's illegal, full-scale invasion of Ukraine."

The USA, the EU and other countries began to introduce sanctions against Belarus after the violent crackdown on protests against the falsification of the results of the 2020 presidential election.
