Australia has imposed new sanctions against Russia for receiving missiles from North Korea

Australia has imposed sanctions against Russian companies linked to the supply of weapons to Russia by North Korea. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Australia, writes liga.net.

"Australia, in coordination with international partners, is introducing targeted financial sanctions against six more organizations associated with North Korea's supply of weapons and related equipment to Russia," said a statement on the website of the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Australian authorities implemented the restrictions in coordination with international partners, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted. The agency called the transfer of North Korean weapons to Moscow a gross violation of numerous UN Security Council resolutions.

According to Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, deepening cooperation between North Korea and Russia will have serious implications for the security of Europe, the Korean Peninsula, and the entire Indo-Pacific region. The minister added that Australia would continue to work with allies to hold Russia and North Korea accountable.

The following were sanctioned: Vostochnaya Stevydornaya Kompaniya LLC, Marin Trans Shipping LLC, M Leasing LLC, and Sovfracht JSC, as well as DUNAY PROBABLE NAVAL MISSILE FACILITY — a Russian naval base and port facility that participated in the transfer of ammunition from the DPRK to Russia, and MG-Flot LLC is a Russian shipping company that provides logistical support to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

Previously, these enterprises were sanctioned by the European Union.

• After the mass shelling of Kharkiv on January 2, the head of the Kharkiv OVA Sinegubov stated in an interview with LIGA.net that there is confidence that the rockets that were used to hit the city were not manufactured in the Russian Federation. Later, the UN confirmed that the fragments of the projectile that fell in Kharkiv belonged to a ballistic missile from the DPRK.

• On March 20, the United States reported that Russia had used North Korean-made missiles against Ukraine at least 10 times.
