Bulgaria approved participation in the NATO mission to train the Ukrainian military

The Council of Ministers (Government) of Bulgaria at a meeting on Wednesday, August 7, allowed the participation of servicemen of the Bulgarian Armed Forces in the NATO operation for training and providing security assistance to Ukraine (NSATU). About it, as he writes European Truth, the press service of the Bulgarian government reported.

By its decision, the Bulgarian government gave permission for the participation of the Bulgarian military in the initiative of the Alliance, under the auspices of which the training of Ukrainian servicemen will take place.

"By adopting this decision, our country clearly demonstrates its commitment to supporting Ukraine, the defense of Euro-Atlantic values, and confirms solidarity with the Alliance in joint efforts to support international peace and security," they emphasized.

The Bulgarian government added that, given the proximity of the war in Ukraine to Bulgaria's borders and the importance of this conflict for the security of Europe, "our country's contribution to NSATU corresponds to the efforts of other member states of the Alliance."

Currently, it is not clear how many Bulgarian servicemen will be involved in the NATO operation. Earlier, Bulgaria sent 50 military personnel to the EU Mission to support Ukraine, EUMAM, which was also engaged in the training of Ukrainian forces.

As you know, the summit of the North Atlantic Alliance in Washington on July 9-11 agreed on the creation of a new structure for the coordination of all types of assistance to Ukraine in the long term, which will be called "NATO Security and Training Assistance for Ukraine" (NSATU).

He also decided to increase NATO's presence in Ukraine, including the appointment of a special representative in Kyiv.
