Britain may send troops to Ukraine if Trump cuts its aid

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson believes that British troops may be deployed in Ukraine if US President-elect Donald Trump cuts military aid to Kyiv. About this, as reported European Truth, Johnson said in an interview with GB News.

The former British Prime Minister explained that the refusal to support Ukraine will lead to much higher costs for Britain in the future.

"I say this to people who are watching and thinking, why do we support Ukrainians? Because otherwise, our collective security will be truly degraded by the resurgence of Russia, which threatens various parts of Europe," he explained.

Johnson also warned that such a scenario would force Britain to directly deploy troops: "Then we will have to pay for sending British troops to defend Ukraine."

Speaking about Trump's position on Ukraine, the ex-prime minister of Britain emphasized the contradictory influences that exist in the US Republican Party.

"Donald Trump is being told a lot of different things, and there is a part of the Republican Party, quite a large one, that takes the wrong position on Ukraine," Johnson admitted, criticizing some Republicans for "something like a strange fanaticism about Putin."

At the same time, he highly appreciated Trump's support for Ukraine during his first term.

"The same Trump changed the fate of Ukraine for the better when he allowed the supply of Javelin anti-tank missile systems," Johnson said, adding that without this support from the former US president, "the battle for Kyiv could have been very, very different."

Last month, Boris Johnson said that Donald Trump's unpredictability would be enough to convince Vladimir Putin not to go to full-scale war against Ukraine.

He also expressed his belief that Trump will not leave Ukraine as the US president.
