The Czech Republic proposed a plan for integrating Ukraine and Moldova into the EU market

The Czech Republic has proposed a plan for the integration of Ukraine and Moldova into the EU internal market. The document envisages economic cooperation in several sectors at once. It is reported RBC-Ukraine with reference to Euractiv.

The Czech Republic has prepared a plan for the integration of Ukraine and Moldova into the EU internal market, which will be presented on January 28 at the EU Council by Minister for European Affairs Martin Dvorak.

The non-paper currently sets out specific proposals on what needs to be done to enable Ukraine and Moldova to gradually integrate into the European internal market. It focuses on specific proposals in:

• energy,
• agriculture,
• telecommunications.

The Czech Republic has already secured the support of eight countries: Estonia, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Latvia, Romania, Slovenia, and Sweden.

The Euractiv.cz editorial team had the opportunity to review the document. According to them, it states that the gradual economic integration of Ukraine and Moldova will contribute to strengthening their economies, reforms, and combating Russian influence.

In addition, proposed measures could include access to EU roaming, training for entrepreneurs, cooperation in cybersecurity, and long-term solutions for the agricultural sector.

Recall that the other day Moldova found an option to deal with the energy crisis. The country plans to involve the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.

RBC-Ukraine wrote that on January 1, Russia's Gazprom announced the cessation of gas supplies to Moldova. Moldova received Russian gas under a contract with Gazprom, which is valid until November 2026.

After the cessation of Russian gas supplies, Chisinau began purchasing electricity on European exchanges, which is why electricity, heating, and gas tariffs have increased here.

It should be noted that, as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously said, Ukraine is ready to help Moldova resolve the energy crisis in Transnistria. In particular, this concerns the provision of coal.
