The production complex, built on the equipment of world leaders Metso, Atlas Copco and Eirich, will be used in the production process as a replacement for vacuum filtration for dewatering fine-grained pulp.

"The introduction of a new technology in production made it possible to reduce the use of bentonite by 55% and to abandon the consumption of an expensive dehydrator. Press filtration also provided better control over the moisture content of the iron ore concentrate, reducing it to 9,7%, while on lines with vacuum filters this indicator is 10,1%. This has a positive effect on the characteristics of the final product," Ferrexpo reported.

The new technology will also reduce natural gas consumption by 3%, which, in addition to savings, will reduce carbon emissions. It will also increase the strength of finished iron ore pellets and increase their production productivity by 3%.

"By implementing such projects during wartime, Ferrexpo confirms its commitment to innovation and efficiency, prioritizing sustainable development and minimizing environmental impact. This project not only strengthens Ferrexpo's position as a leader in the production of high-quality iron ore pellets, but is also an important element for ensuring cleaner and more efficient steel production at the global level," commented the launch of the new line, Chairman of the Board of Poltava GZK Viktor Lotous.

Ferrexpo noted that currently only the first and second technological lines are connected to the press filtration complex in the pellet production shop. The other two lines are planned to be connected by the end of 2024.
