The OSCE PA recognized the Russian war as a genocide of Ukrainians

Russia's war against Ukraine is a genocide of the Ukrainian people, and Russia must decolonize, says the resolution of the OSCE PA, writes dw.com.

The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly adopted a resolution recognizing Russia's actions as genocide of the Ukrainian people and the need for Russia's decolonization. People's deputy, member of the OSCE parliamentary delegation Pavlo Frolov announced this on Saturday, June 29.

According to him, the document contains a call to the 53 OSCE participating countries to make efforts for the de-occupation of Crimea and all occupied territories of Ukraine by supporting the "peace formula" and the Crimean platform. The resolution also calls for the creation of a special tribunal to hold the Russian Federation accountable for war crimes and to conduct international and national investigations into mass atrocities, murders, torture, and rapes committed in Ukraine by the Russian military.

In addition, it is emphasized the need to quickly launch a mechanism for the use of frozen Russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine, the OSCE countries are invited to join the agreement on the international register of damages caused to Ukraine by the aggression of the Russian Federation.

The assembly also recognized the 2024 presidential election in Russia as rigged and undermines the legitimacy of the entire electoral system of Russia.

The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly supported the creation of an international coalition for the return of Ukrainian children, as well as ensuring the release of Ukrainian prisoners of war and civilians, and called for a ban on the import of Russian liquefied gas to the European Union, re-export and transit through EU ports.

The session of the OSCE PA will last until July 3.
