"Hello everyone, I'm a homeless person from the Zaporizhzhia region. Now I live in a village in Vinnychyna and am developing my second big game. Here, I want to show all the stages of independent game creation," is how Pavel's video begins.
He says that he sketches in Photoshop and warns that he never learned to draw anywhere, so he has "big problems with perspective, colors and composition." However, despite this, the game has a good picture.
Pavel's TikTok video has received over 68000 views, 8000 likes and hundreds of supportive comments. Some users expressed hope that the developer will be able to return to his hometown in the Zaporizhzhia region. "This city no longer exists. Unfortunately, there is nowhere to return," Pavlo said.
Shapik: The Quest is a remaster of Pavel Podberezko's first game, created on Flash in 2011. The updated version will have the following features:
- +10 new levels, achievements and secret objects.
- 4K textures.
- Gamepad support.
- Graphics are hand drawn.
No text line. The entire story is told through animated "thought bubbles."
"Our musician has created atmospheric music so that you feel all the vicissitudes and exciting moments of the plot," notes the developer.
The Kickstarter fundraising campaign aims to raise a specific amount of $6,343. At the same time, Pavlo details what each dollar will be spent on:
- $1,800 — Annual housing rent ($150 per month).
- $400 — Electric generator.
- $380 — Annual subscription to Adobe products.
- $600 — Composer services.
- $300 — Office chair.
- $300 — Charging station.
- $380 — Asus ProArt Display 27″.
- $2,134 — Taxes and fees.
Shapik: The Quest is currently 80% complete, with 18 of the 21 planned levels already. The remaining 20% is for level refinement, sound design, bug fixes, testing and polishing.
The game has a page on Steam, but the demo is currently only available for download on the developer's site. You can also support Pavel by purchasing his previous project Shapik: The Moon Quest.
