Creation of the first sample of the Mineral-U radar at the finish line

In Ukraine, work on the creation of the first samples of the new mobile radar "Mineral-U" on the Tatra 8×8 platform is being completed.

It is reported that SE Scientific and Research Institute of Radar Systems "Kvant-Radiolocation" together with the Kharkiv enterprise "SKTB Corporation "UkrInnMash" are completing the installation of elements and systems of the "Mineral-U" radar on the Tatra 8x8 car platform.

The radar is designed for detection and classification of surface objects at a distance of up to 500-600 km using a passive channel, additional reconnaissance can be carried out using an active channel. The task of the complex is to provide targeting for means of destruction, primarily for the RK-360 MC "Neptun" coastal anti-ship missile complex.

The lifting unit with the Mineral-U radar in a radio-transparent cover is combined with the personnel kung and installed on the mobile chassis.

We remind you that earlier we reported that two stations of the multifunctional radar complex "Mineral-U" developed by "Kvant-Radiolocation" have already been manufactured at the state-owned enterprise "Radiometer" (Kyiv).

Experimental samples of the stations were built under the contract signed in December 2019. The customer is the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

These two stations are part of a complex that can issue targeting information to one RK-360MC "Neptun" division.

Eduard Kasapov, the director of the Kvant-Radiolocation Research Institute of Radar Systems, reported that at that time the stations were undergoing the process of adjustment and preparation for installation on the TATRA wheeled chassis.

The complex is expected to be ready for field testing by the end of 2021. In this way, the enterprise will have time to complete the work before the production of the first serial complex "Neptune".

According to the director of SE Radiometer, there are still no new contracts for the production of Mineral-U stations. The updated facilities of the enterprise allow the production of 2 complexes per year. This number can be increased if other specialized enterprises of Ukroboronprom are involved in the process. Therefore, the developer and manufacturer are counting on the export of the complex abroad.
