Trump set a "psychological deadline" for Putin to agree to a ceasefire

US President Donald Trump said that there is a "psychological deadline" for Russia to agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine. This is reported by liga.net with reference to The Hill.

"It's a psychological deadline," Trump told reporters aboard his plane.

Trump did not say when this deadline expires and what sanctions will be imposed for violating it.

"If I think they're cheating us, I won't be happy about it," he said.

The US president added that he still believes that dictator Vladimir Putin really "wants to make a deal" and is not stalling for time.

The conversation with journalists took place after Trump began to signal dissatisfaction with Putin's behavior.

For example, on March 30, Trump said he was “very angry” and “furious” when Putin made statements about the alleged illegitimacy of Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky. He gave a month for a ceasefire and announced new tariffs on Russian oil if there was no peace.

On the same day, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, after talking with Trump, said that the US president's patience with Russia was running out.
