Trump admitted that Russia may "delay" a peace agreement on Ukraine

US President Donald Trump suggested that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin may be stalling on a ceasefire agreement with Ukraine, while the White House chief of staff believes the Kremlin ultimately wants to end the war. RBC-Ukraine citing Politico.

Answering a question from a reporter from the American cable television company Newsmax whether he believed that Moscow was delaying the ceasefire agreements, Trump admitted such a scenario.

“But maybe they’re delaying,” Trump admitted, adding that he had used the same tactic in his past dealings to buy time.

“I’ve been doing this for years… You know, I don’t want to sign a contract, I want to kind of stay in the game, but maybe I don’t want to do it at all, I’m not sure,” he explained in a similar manner.

At the same time, Trump again expressed the opinion that Ukraine and Russia want the war to end.

"But no, I think Russia would like this to end, and I think Zelensky (Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky) would like this to end at this point," the American leader said.

He also reiterated his assessment of the casualties suffered by both sides, citing an average of 2500 soldiers per week. But he stressed that he “just wants it to stop.”

Trump's assessment of the results of US negotiations with Ukraine and Russia

As reported, yesterday, US President Trump said that the United States is seeing great progress in resolving Russia's war against Ukraine, which was achieved during negotiations in Saudi Arabia.

This statement was made following a series of meetings in Riyadh between delegations from Ukraine and the United States, as well as Russia and the United States. There, the parties held separate technical talks on the possibility of a ceasefire.

Recall that after such negotiations, it became known that Ukraine agreed to a ceasefire in the Black Sea and an "energy truce" with the Russian Federation.

Official Moscow stated that the Russian side had agreed only to the idea of ​​an “energy truce.” In the case of a truce at sea, the aggressor country began to demand that the West first lift some of the sanctions against it.

Commenting on this, Trump noted that the US is considering Russia's conditions for a ceasefire agreement with Ukraine in the Black Sea, including a partial lifting of sanctions restrictions.

It is also worth recalling that in March, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant stated that Trump was ready to tighten economic sanctions against Russia as much as possible in order to force it to enter into peace negotiations.
