Ukraine is negotiating the creation of an organization of grain exporting countries
25.05.2022Ukraine has proposed to create an organization of grain exporting countries, which will include the key world exporters of grain crops — the USA, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Ukraine and the EU — to protect their interests on the world market, writes ua.interfax.com.ua.

Negotiations on the creation of "OPEC for grains" are currently underway, the website of the Ministry of Agricultural Policy and Food reported on Tuesday.
"We want the world's main grain exporters — the USA, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Ukraine, the EU — to unite to protect their own interests on the world market," the department quotes the adviser to the Minister of Agricultural Policy, Markiyan Dmytrasevich.
According to him, members of such an organization of grain-exporting countries could jointly oppose unfriendly measures, such as bans on grain imports. So, if a member of such an organization was prohibited from importing grain to a certain country, this would be considered a violation of the interests of all members of the "grain OPEC".
As reported, the Minister of Agricultural Policy of Ukraine, Mykola Solsky, at the opening of the G7 Agriculture Ministers' Conference in Stuttgart on May 13, proposed to discuss the creation of an organization of the world's main grain suppliers, responding to modern challenges and threats to food security.
