"Thanks to the funds raised from the OVDP, we were able to finance more than 200 days of our defense and protection, which is equivalent to 15% of Ukraine's GDP in 2023. In general, investments in bonds have become the second largest source of funding for the state budget after international aid," said Minister of Finance of Ukraine Serhiy Marchenko.
In total, OVDP bonds worth more than 1,6 trillion hryvnias are currently in circulation, of which the share of commercial banks is 42,2%, the National Bank - 41,5%, legal entities - 10%, individuals - 3,8%, non-residents - 2,4%, 0,1%, territorial communities — XNUMX%.
It is noted that at the same time, citizens and business representatives have significantly increased their interest in purchasing OVDP bonds. Since 2016, the volume of individual investments has increased approximately 600 times, and since February 24, 2022 - more than 2,4 times. Legal entities have increased their investment in OVDP 7x since 2016 and 2x since the start of the full scale invasion.
For the period from January 2022 to March 2024, Ukrainian individuals and legal entities (excluding banks) received income in the amount of UAH 31,5 billion, and foreign ones - UAH 19 billion, which in total amounts to UAH 50,5 billion.
The Ministry of Finance emphasized that, along with yield, an important characteristic is the high liquidity of OVDP on the secondary market, because investors can sell bonds at any time at the current market price.
