It is claimed that the draft law, developed against the background of Russia's ongoing war against Ukraine, is aimed at ensuring Bulgaria's compliance with international restrictive measures.
It provides for the freezing of Russian property belonging to persons who have been subject to sanctions, in particular, the return of the sanitary and rehabilitation complex "Kamchiya" to the property of the country.
The draft law is proposed by deputies Ivaylo Mirchev and Nadiya Yordanova, who represent the political party "We continue the changes - democratic Bulgaria".
They noted that they count on support from other parliamentary formations.
Transfer of Russian assets to Ukraine
Earlier it became known that the USA offered the G300 countries to confiscate XNUMX billion dollars of frozen Russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine. They want to agree on the corresponding plan before the second anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
On January 11, it became known that the White House supported the legislation, which will allow confiscating about 300 billion dollars from the frozen assets of the Russian Federation, and directing these funds to the reconstruction of Ukraine.
The head of the EU's foreign policy, Josep Borrell, said that on Wednesday, January 24, the ambassadors of the European Union will approve the use of profits from the frozen assets of the Russian Federation for the benefit of Ukraine.
