The G7 has determined what the contribution of the member countries will be to the 50 billion aid to Ukraine at the expense of income from frozen Russian assets, writes dw.com.

Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida

Japan will allocate $3,3 billion to Ukraine as part of the $50 billion aid agreed by the Group of Seven (G7), the Japanese news agency Kyodo reported on Wednesday, July 17, citing diplomatic sources.

According to the agreement reached, the United States and the European Union will provide Ukraine with $20 billion each, and Japan, Great Britain, and Canada will provide a total of another $10 billion. France, Germany and Italy are unlikely to participate individually yet, as the EU already has a similar support plan, the agency's interlocutors said.

The plan is expected to be formally approved on the sidelines of the G20 finance ministers' conference in Brazil in July.

50 billion dollars to Ukraine from the G7 at the expense of profits from the assets of the Russian Federation

As part of sanctions against the Russian Federation for its war against Ukraine, about 260 billion euros of Russian assets have been frozen around the world, of which approximately 210 billion are in the EU. These funds bring from 2,5 to 3,5 billion in profit per year, which, according to Brussels, legally does not belong to Russia.

At the June summit, the G7 leaders agreed to find a way to pay Ukraine a $50 billion loan, which it will repay with funds provided by the EU from interest accrued on frozen Russian assets.
