President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi visited on Friday, December 29, the positions of the 110th separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (FSU) in Avdiyivka, Donetsk region, where the Russian occupation forces have been constantly conducting offensive actions in recent months.

"I thanked the soldiers personally. We discussed the defense situation and basic needs with the commander. He honored the best soldiers with state awards and presented the "Golden Star" of the Hero of Ukraine to junior sergeant Ihor Tymoshchuk," the president said.

He added that those soldiers who are found on the front lines "hold the life of Ukraine on themselves." "Here life is chosen. And we are grateful to all the fighters. To every soldier and sailor. To every sergeant, every officer, who bear this war on themselves. I thank all of you, warriors!" Zelensky emphasized.

The President also thanked everyone "who works so that the guys at the front have what they need" and "everyone in the world who believes in us and does everything so that Ukraine can do more."

The head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, writing about the trip, noted that heavy battles are taking place near Avdiivka, the situation there is difficult, the Russian occupiers are destroying the city with constant strikes. "Our army holds the front. Soldiers are strong and understand what they are there for, the importance of their work for the country. It is a great honor to shake hands with our defenders, who prevent Russian plans from coming to life," he wrote in Telegram.
